Dental Implants

3D CBCT Imaging

A 3D scan lets us plan implant placement carefully — checking bone density, the position of nerves and sinuses, and the path of each implant before treatment.

Why 3D imaging matters

A traditional 2D dental X-ray shows teeth and bone from one angle. A 3D cone-beam scan shows your jaw from every angle, so the implant plan can account for everything underneath the surface. It’s how implant cases stay predictable.

Quick and comfortable

The scan takes only a few seconds. There’s no goop, no probing, and the radiation dose is low. The image is then used to map your implant placement with precision.

A clearer conversation

Seeing the scan together makes it easier to talk through what your case looks like — bone, anatomy, and the plan — in plain language.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

Why is CBCT needed for implants?
Because a flat 2D X-ray cannot show bone width, sinus position, or the exact path of the lower jaw nerve. CBCT shows all of that in 3D, which is what makes precise, predictable, conservative implant placement possible.
Is it safe?
Yes. Dental CBCT uses a fraction of the radiation of a medical CT scan, comparable to about a day or two of natural background radiation. It is the standard of care for any implant case in modern dentistry.
How long does the scan take?
About 20 seconds in the chair. You sit still while a small arm rotates around your head once. There is no enclosed tube, no contrast dye, and no special prep.
Is CBCT used for anything besides implants?
Yes — diagnosing complex pain, evaluating root canals, planning surgical extractions of impacted wisdom teeth, and assessing TMJ. We use it whenever a 3D view will lead to better, more conservative care.
