A clear way to straighten your smile

If you’d like a straighter smile but you don’t love the idea of traditional metal braces, you’re in luck. Invisalign uses clear aligners that fit over your teeth — almost no one will notice you’re wearing them.

How Invisalign works

Invisalign is a series of clear thermoplastic aligners customized to fit your teeth. They look a lot like whitening trays, and each aligner is designed to shift specific teeth over the course of your treatment. Once we decide together that Invisalign is the right fit, Dr. Youn maps out your treatment plan and sends it to the Invisalign lab to begin designing your aligners.

Beyond being discreet, the aligners are removable. That means no strict diet — you can eat what you want; just take the aligners out before mealtime. The same goes for brushing and flossing: pop them out, clean as usual, put them back in. No special tools, no working around brackets and wires. Invisalign fits seamlessly into your daily life.

Are you a candidate?

Most adults and older teens are great candidates. If you have crooked teeth, gaps, crowding, an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite, Invisalign may be right for you. On average, adult Invisalign treatment takes about a year. For teens, treatment time can be comparable to traditional braces.

Invisalign Questions Patients Ask Most

How long does Invisalign treatment take in Waynesboro?

Most adult Invisalign cases at Willis Family Dentistry Waynesboro finish in 12 to 18 months. Treatment time depends on the complexity of your bite — Dr. Tyler Youn, DDS gives you a specific estimate at your consultation after an iTero digital scan.

Is Invisalign more expensive than traditional braces?

Invisalign and traditional braces fall in a similar overall cost range for most cases at our Pelham Drive office. The exact fee depends on how many aligners your bite needs. We talk about cost up front, accept most major PPO insurance plans, and offer Virginia Dental Club discounts and CareCredit financing.

How many hours a day do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

Aligners must be worn 20 to 22 hours per day for predictable results. You only remove them to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush or floss. The clearer the wear schedule, the closer your final result tracks the plan.

Does Invisalign work for teens?

Yes. Willis Family Dentistry Waynesboro treats teen Invisalign cases with compliance indicators built into the aligners so parents can track wear time. Teens are typically good candidates once most permanent teeth have erupted.

Do you use iTero digital scanning instead of impressions?

Yes. Every Invisalign case at our Pelham Drive office is planned with an iTero digital scan — no goopy impression trays. The scan also lets you see a simulation of your final smile before committing to treatment.
