Infection Control

Our commitment to a clean, sterile, safe environment for every patient who comes through our doors.

Sterilization standards

Our office follows the infection-control guidelines set by the CDC, OSHA, and the American Dental Association. Instruments are cleaned, packaged, and steam-sterilized between every use, and the sterilizer is monitored regularly to confirm it’s working as it should.

Operatory care

Each treatment room is fully disinfected between patients. Surfaces our team touches during a procedure are barrier-protected. Personal protective equipment — gloves, masks, eye protection — is changed for each patient.

Questions are welcome

If you ever have questions about how something is being cleaned or handled, please ask. We’ll happily walk you through it.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

How do you sterilize instruments?
Every instrument used in your mouth is heat-sterilized in an autoclave between every patient — the gold-standard method. We test our autoclaves weekly with biological indicators to confirm they are working correctly, and the test logs are kept on file.
What protective equipment do you use?
Gloves, masks, eye protection, and disposable gowns or barrier coats for every clinical visit, changed between every patient. Treatment surfaces are wiped with hospital-grade disinfectant between visits, and any item that cannot be sterilized is single-use and discarded.
What happens to gloves and disposables?
All single-use items go in a regulated medical waste stream and are disposed of according to Virginia and federal regulations. Sharps go in a puncture-proof container picked up by a licensed waste-disposal service.
How is your office cleaned at the end of the day?
Every operatory is fully wiped and disinfected after each patient, and at end-of-day we run a full deep clean of treatment areas, the lab, and waiting room surfaces. Our protocols meet or exceed CDC guidelines for dental settings.
